The summer solstice

Born to be happy.

女子力、肌力、骨盤力、ならぬ幸せ力。
現代人はこれを必要としているんじゃないか。

A friend of mine in NY just came back from a trip to Colombia. After visiting "the third world" he concluded "Japan is a country with less natural resources, yet one of the safest and richest country in the world, which derived from our diligence. Though everybody complains all the time, we live in a supposed-to-be-happy country so we better be happy."

When you look out the world, you realize you are living under one of the luckiest circumstances. Then why would so many people kill themselves in this country? There's no terrorists watching you, your human rights are well protected, even if you don't have jobs you get a place to stay and enough money to live on. There's no reason to be too sad to kill themselves. I would say we are lacking in 幸せ力 (a skill/ability to make themselves happy) now. We have been treated too nice and we are too spoiled to even find happiness for ourselves.

People in South America are very happy and positive no matter what their circumstances are. For example in Cuba, the government practiced this policy: you get only one eco-bulb for one household for free and all the old non-eco bulbs have to be trashed. So what happened is one household has average 5~10 people and few rooms, and at night if you need a light you have to take the only bulb out from the living room and replace it to the room you need a light on. That sounds horrible to me but people in Cuba are laughing about it. And say "oh well, we don't have a choice. We have all family members healthy and fine so what could be better?"

People under harsh circumstances are very good at finding happiness around them. They are happy because they have enough food, all the family are fine, they can create jobs if there's no offer..etc...
We have a lot to learn from them. Japanese so-called "great schools" are not necessary so good at everything so don't worry to not get in one of them. It's not the end of the world. Don't complain and create a job if you don't have one. Again, it's not the end of the world. There are as many ways to be happy as there are people! Find one for yourself.

You were born to be happy. - by Buddha.

Moleskine La Petit Prince Limited Journal

This little notebook has captivated my heart for last few weeks.
(I had even a UK company to send this little guy all the way from UK! Since all the bookstore in Japan even online ones were out of stock.)
I am a big fan of journals/stationaries since ...I don't even remember.
Especially the ones with "limited" notes.
I can't stop buying fancy journals which I have no purpose for.
Yet, this time I do have purpose for this lovely journal: a book journal!
I love to read as much as to buy journals, so this is like a greatest combination ever for me.

Hallelujah!
